Understanding
The Subconscious Mind

It takes care of all the processes that are occurring out of conscious awareness.

It stores information from all your senses.  It stores your feelings and emotions. The more intense the emotion, the deeper the idea becomes imprinted upon the subconscious mind.

It is the sit of your emotions and your creativity.  It communicates through symbolic images, metaphors and music.

It is literal and it has no reasoning.  It accepts and acts upon any fact or suggestion given to it.  It does not differentiate between something that is "really" happening or something you are "thinking is happening".

Whatever you say or think, your subconscious mind will take it as true.

Since childhood, many beliefs have been stored in your subconscious mind as "true".  These beliefs cause emotions that affect our daily life and decisions, thus affecting all areas of our life.

Most of the problems adults have today come from their early ages.  Things that have been buried and forgotten in their subconscious mind.

These subconscious beliefs keep affecting the adult’s life.  When you want to change or heal certain issue in your life, you must find the root of the problem.

Hypnotherapy is a great tool to go to the root of the problem because you communicate directly with your subconscious.

It does not only help you to heal what you wanted to heal but with long term use it will also have positive side effects in your overall life, such as increasing awareness, relaxation, focus and creativity.

Myths & Misconceptions of Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a tool that has been misunderstood for many years.

In the past few years researchers have taken some of their time and attention to study the effects of hypnosis on the brain.  Finding scientific proof that it does change the activity of the brain. Thanks to this, people now know that it doesn't work just because you believe in it; which is one of the myths.

Putting stage hypnosis aside.  There are countless cases of people benefiting from hypnosis and making lasting changes in their lives.

Hypnotherapy is not for everybody, just like NOTHING is for EVERYBODY.  We are all different and there will be things that work for some people and some for others.

It is your choice, just like you can choose to do Yoga instead of Tai Chi.  If there is something in you that is attracted to it and you want to try it, then you CAN

So before you try it yourself, here are some facts you need to know:

  • Myth #1:  When you are in hypnosis you are out of control.

  • Fact: You cannot be hypnotized against your will.  You must want to be hypnotized.

  • Myth #2: Only the gullible and weak minded can be hypnotized.

  • Fact:  It takes imagination and a willingness to cooperate, a willingness to accept suggestions.  The more intelligent and imaginative the person, the easier it is to hypnotize him/her.

  • Myth #3: A person may stay in the hypnotic state and don't wake up.

  • Fact: No one has remained indefinitely in the hypnotic state. The state can be terminated at will.  You cannot get stuck in hypnosis.

  • Myth #4: Hypnosis is unnatural and artificial.

  • Fact: Hypnosis is a natural, yet altered state of mind.

  • Myth #5: Hypnosis is a surrender of one's will to the hypnotist. It is a "stronger mind" having power over a "weaker mind"; where the hypnotic subject is under the power or control of the hypnotist.

  • Fact: A hypnotist has no power over another person. The client must want to be hypnotized; allowing the process of finding his/her own inner resources in their subconscious mind. The hypnotherapist assists and facilitates the process.

  • Myth #6:  Hypnosis is sleep, an unconscious state and when hypnotized a person is not aware of their surroundings.

  • Fact: In hypnosis awareness is increased. You are aware of everything that is going on around you; it is only that you choose to pay attention to what is happening within your own mind and the process of the therapy.

  • Myth #7:  Hypnosis affects a cure in just one or two sessions. It is a "panacea".

  • Fact:  In many cases a person can break a habit in one or two sessions. However, in the majority of cases, a number of sessions are required to obtain favorable and lasting results. Hypnosis does not cure ALL of human problems and it doesn't solve problems instantly.

  • Myth #8: Hypnosis is brainwashing.

  • Fact: Brainwashing – The American Heritage Dictionary defines Brainwashing as “Intensive, forcible indoctrination, usually political or religious, aimed at destroying a person's basic convictions and attitudes and replacing them with an alternative set of fixed beliefs.” Brainwashing involves an altered state where some form of deprivation is present. A hypnotist cannot make someone do something that they would not do normally and empowers his client to access this state himself and to make his own positive changes.

Types of Hypnotherapy

Parts Therapy

What we do in Parts Therapy is to identify parts of your psyche, for example; the child, the critic/judge and the victim.  For each person these parts may change and different parts may come up, as each individual is a world on itself.

What does "parts of your psyche" mean?

Have you ever talked to yourself? In your mind?  Have you ever called yourself “names”? For example, when you make a mistake, you could call yourself “stupid”.

Alright, that is an example of “the critic” that is in your mind.  So in this same way, there may be other parts that exist only in your mind, which are constantly affecting you in a negative way.

The idea is to let them come out, and through professional assistance you find resolution and understanding.  It is an invaluable technique that helps you forgive and heal wounds that are keeping you from living a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Programming Session

In this therapy we implant constructive and suportive suggestions in your subconscious mind.  Suggestions that resonate with you in order to help you change habits, behaviors or/and beliefs.  Through repetition and visualizations you create new perspectives, new healthy habits and new ways of thinking in whichever area of yourself or your life.

Clinical Hypnosis

These sessions consist on creating a treatment that approaches self-esteem, self-image, self-control, cognition and behavior.  All created and customized for the individual depending on his/her specific mental, emotional and physical conditions and needs.

Regression Therapy

In this session, the client is regressed to younger ages – as young as necessary – to heal, understand and let go of past traumas, fears or unresolved issues.

Most of the problems adults have today come from their early ages.  Things that have been buried and forgotten in the subconscious mind.

By bringing consciousness and a different perspective to situations that happened in the past, we are able to heal and transform our feelings, perception and thoughts about what happened and about ourselves.
